Biography

Amie initially qualified as a Dental Hygienist from the University of Bristol in 2011 after working as a Dental Nurse for some time before. Always keen to further her knowledge she then went on to attend the Dental Therapist course at Bristol University and qualified in 2015.

Her commitment and enthusiasm to helping patients in their journey towards a healthy smile means her patient enjoy visiting her regularly. Amie particularly enjoys treating patients with periodontal disease, dental implants and is especially good in helping nervous patients overcome their fears.

Away from the Dental Surgery, Amie enjoys taking part in sporting events such as swimming, running and triathlon events.

Biography

Cassandra (Cassy) works within our Orthodontic team to give patients a straighter smile.

She started in the dental industry as a dental nurse and has also helped to train and teach many Dental nurses as a teacher, assessor, and examiner in the past.

As an orthodontic therapist Cassandra is qualified to perform a variety of treatments such as taking radiographs. fitting braces and clear aligners and removing fixed braces all under the prescription of the Dentist.

She is certainly one of our chattiest members of the team and her favourite part of what she does is getting to know her patients during the course of their treatment.

Biography

Charlotte qualified as a dental nurse in 2016 and worked in general practice before joining Ascent Dental Care Tamworth in 2017.

Since joining the team Charlotte has undertaken the role of Orthodontic Department Lead working closely alongside Dr Gursh Bajwa. She has also undertaken further studies, supported by the Practice, including impression taking, sedation nursing and radiography including further training allowing her to take CBCT scans under prescription. Having completed all of this training Charlotte undertook the formal NEBDN qualification in Orthodontic Dental Nursing. We are delighted that Charlottes hard work has enabled her to be accepted onto the Orthodontic Therapist training course and she is now undertaking her formal training to become a qualified orthodontic therapist.

Charlotte says the best part of her role is meeting all of our lovely patients and she especially likes being involved in changing peoples smiles.

Biography

Jas graduated from the School of Dentistry at Birmingham University in 2015. Since graduating he has worked in general practice across the Birmingham area, and he joined Ascent Dental Care in 2016.

Jas is keen to continue expanding his knowledge and experience and has attended various postgraduate training including courses held in Harley Street provided by the well-known Basil Mizrahi and the ITI Foundation training in Implant Dentistry. He is also a member of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and the International Team for Implantology.

Jas is very popular amongst our patients due to his friendly and personable demeanour. He is especially good with very nervous patients and has completed post graduate dental studies at the University of Bristol enabling him to provide sedation to nervous patients.

Jayman is very popular with our patients, alongside providing all aspects of general dentistry he is also qualified to offer Invisalign and Smilefast clear aligner teeth straightening treatments.

Having had his own braces as a child, Jayman was fascinated in how the dental team worked together. Seeing how it changed his life, but also the relationship he grew with his dentist and orthodontist made him want to take up dentistry as a career.

He sees dentistry as both a science and an art and enjoys learning the most recent techniques and developing his skills further. He is currently undertaking the FGDP Diploma in Restorative Dentistry (RCSEng).

Biography

Julian qualified in 1991 from Matthew Boulton Technical College with a BTEC National Diploma in Dental Technology after completing 5 years of training in full service laboratories providing high quality technical dentistry. Having over 25 years of experience as a qualified dental technician, Julian has become a respected technical consultant and technologist to some of the UK leading clinicians. Julian has been actively involved in the postgraduate teaching dentists at the Birmingham Dental Hospital (BDH), Manchester Dental Education Centre (MANDEC), and at the Worcester Royal Hospital.

Julian is constantly continuing to update his learning and embraces all techniques new and old that he feels optimises the end result of the dentures that he constructs. In recent years Julian has qualified at the Royal College of Surgeons with a Diploma in Clinical Dental Technology. This course of education has further developed his knowledge and skills to ensure that he provides optimum solutions to problems faced by dentists and patients in pursuit of quality technical dentistry.

Laura graduated with honours from Cardiff School of Dentistry in 2015, where she won a scholarship for best student performance. After qualifying Laura gained membership to the Royal College of Surgeons; and she completed two extra years in dental core training. Laura worked as a hospital senior house officer in Oral Surgery, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Special Care Dentistry, before settling into general practice. Laura is certified and well practiced in advanced anti-wrinkle and dermal filler treatments, and is an Invisalign provider. She takes a keen interest in cosmetic dentistry, and has completed a year long post graduate certificate in Advanced Aesthetic Restorative Dentistry with Aspire Dental Academy London, with whom she is undertaking a Restorative Diploma. Laura is gifted at making patients feel at ease, and is qualified in intravenous sedation. Laura’s calm and caring demeanour, alongside her excellent clinical skills, means that she is often the dentist of choice for patients looking to have their treatment carried out in our practice.

Mahomed graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2007 and has since been determined to develop his skills and deliver the highest standard of care. In 2008 he was awarded the Diploma of Joint Dental Faculties from The Royal College of Surgeons London (MJDF). His focus has always been on promoting and providing patients with the strongest foundations of oral health, thereafter building and rehabilitating patients’ smile and function. This is where Mahomed’s interest in Periodontology began and in 2009 he began a three-year Masters in Clinical Dentistry in Periodontology at The University of Sheffield, which he gained with Merit in 2012.

Mahomed is recognised by the General Dental Council as a Specialist in Periodontics and has held a variety of positions around the Midlands both in general practice and hospital. He has worked as an Honorary Speciality Doctor at Glenfield Hospital in his hometown of Leicester, as well as a being a Clinical Teacher in Restorative Dentistry at The Charles Clifford Dental Hospital and working in the Periodontology and Restorative Departments.

Mahomed offers his services and specialist expertise in the diagnosis, treatment planning and management of any periodontal problems that patients may suffer from. His aim is to use his extensive periodontal knowledge and skills to establish a healthy periodontal environment, which is conducive to maintaining patients with their natural dentition. His approach is centred on patient motivation and non-surgical intervention, or, when appropriate, surgical periodontal therapy including surgical regeneration and mucogingival plastic surgery to achieve optimal results. Biography
Since graduation from University of Birmingham School of Dentistry in 2002, Faresh has continued to pursue further training and education, holding a Diploma in Restorative Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons and a Diploma in Implant Dentistry with Advanced Certificate in Bone Grafting from the Royal College of Surgeons.

As a co-principle of multiple practices, he has experience in surgical and restorative implantology, sinus augmentation, block bone augmentation and GBR, as well as extensive experience in I.V sedation.

His commitment to the profession is shown by the numerous national and international courses he has attended in Cosmetic, Restorative and Implant dentistry. Faresh has been placing and restoring implants since 2004 and has a wealth of experience in restorative dentistry and dental implantology with a special interest in full arch rehabilitation.

Faresh is also a co – principal of Ascent Dental Care, a small group of private dental practices in the Midlands.

Biography

Following the usual four and a half years of training as undergraduate at Bristol University Dental School Simon graduated in 1993. He then went onto undertake further post-graduate training over the subsequent four years encompassing recognised training posts in general professional training in Southport and Liverpool Dental Hospital.
Further training in Oral Surgery was gained through posts within the specialty of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, notably at Blackpool Victoria Hospital, Russells Hall Hospital and Wolverhampton New Cross Hospital. Simon obtained his Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of surgeons of Edinburgh in 1998.
He has been continuously registered on the UK General Dental Council specialist list for Oral Surgery since 2002.
Simon says his work is overwhelmingly chair-side clinical activity. Alongside working within the Ascent team Simon also has current appointments with the Birmingham Dental Hospital and the University of Birmingham Dental School. He is regularly involved in the clinical supervision of both undergraduate dental students and postgraduate dentists in training.
Simon is a member of the core examiners for the Licence in Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
His routine practice at Ascent Dental Care includes a wide spectrum of Oral surgery undertaken with Local Anaesthetic and Intravenous Sedation.
Simon also has a special interest in the management of Temporo-mandibular dysfunction, working alongside colleagues in Maxillo-facial surgery often employing Botulinum toxin.
Simon accepts referrals from other local Dentists for both oral surgery.

James qualified from the University of Leeds in 2014 with merit and awards in Restorative Dentistry and Oral Surgery. He gained his early professional experience in general practice in his hometown of Sutton Coldfield, before completing an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery core training post at Coventry University Hospital. During his time there he gained invaluable surgical experience and completed his Royal College of Surgeons examinations.

In 2016 James moved to London where he provided general dentistry, treatment under sedation for nervous patients, cosmetic dentistry and gained further experience in Oral Surgery and Implant Dentistry. He has since completed a Diploma in Implant Dentistry from the Cambridge Academy of Dental Implantology, gaining a Distinction.

James loves seeing and treating his patients, helping them achieve and maintain their best smiles. He focusses on prevention and ensures that the patient’s journey is personalised to them.
