Is teeth whitening painful?

Your teeth and gums may become sensitive during whitening treatment. We will always ensure you are using the right concentration levels of your whitening formula. With all our professional teeth whitening systems we offer a desensitising gel or toothpaste to help minimise sensitivity.

How long does teeth whitening last?

Unfortunately, teeth whitening doesn’t last forever. With our range of teeth whitening systems we can bring them back to life by removing any surface staining and lightening the teeth, but over time your teeth will naturally begin to darken as they collect stains. We encourage patients who undergo teeth whitening treatment to avoid foods and drinks that cause stains such as tea, coffee and spicy foods. To keep a whiter, brighter smile for as long as possible patients should maintain a good oral hygiene regime and actively use the top-up gels from the practice.

Is teeth whitening safe?

Professional teeth whitening should only be offered or performed by a registered dental professional and offers you the protection and reassurance of optimum safety and results. Legally, they are the only profession who can use a strength of product up to 6% hydrogen peroxide. Over-the-counter tooth whitening products can legally only contain up to 0.1% hydrogen peroxide – a concentration which is too low to have any noticeable effect on the colour of the teeth.
